Satria Muda Pertamina responded perfectly after the surprising defeat from Hangtuah in Ciracas last week. Realizing that they could not afford to slip up again in the next games, SM Pertamina immediately recovered. Playing without their two mainstay players Avan Seputra and Abraham Damar Grahita, SM Pertamina was still too strong for Borneo Hornbills. The team that is identical with the color blue won by a landslide with a score of 109-53.
“Praise God, we were able to recover from yesterday’s match and win comfortably. I was really happy to see the performance of the kids on the field and honestly this is our dream to achieve a field goal at a number like this. Yes, hopefully we can be consistent with our level of play like this in every match,” said Youbel Sondakh after the match.
Although winning with a margin of 56 points, the coach who has presented two league titles for SM still said that rebounds were still an obstacle for his team.
"It's still homework for us, because the 18 offensive rebounds they were able to take are still too many in my opinion. So for the next matches, that's what we have to fix immediately," he continued.
When asked whether SM Pertamina would immediately change the composition of their foreign players, Youbel said that for now it was not the main focus of his team. Because right now he is more focused on how to make SM play more cohesively in every match.
"We've only lost three times so far, even though yesterday we had a bad loss, but I still believe in this squad. I believe we can rise again and the match earlier also showed me that with our current player composition we can survive and even win very convincingly," he concluded.
With this victory, SM Pertamina has now managed to collect 12 wins from 15 matches and will return to compete in an away match against Bima Perkasa on April 24.
