Bandung, January 2, 2026 – Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung has issued an update regarding the status of its player, Dame Diagne, who has been officially designated as a local player following a decision by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
The decision is detailed in an official FIBA letter dated December 11, 2025, stating that Dame Diagne has met all requirements to play as an Indonesian local player and is eligible to represent the Indonesian National Team without restrictions, in accordance with prevailing FIBA regulations. This update has also been confirmed by the Central Board of PERBASI and formally communicated to the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL).
Managing Director of Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung, Christian Ronaldo Sitepu, welcomed the decision, viewing the change in status as a significant milestone, not only for the club but also for the development of national basketball.
“We welcome this decision with gratitude and excitement. Dame is a player who has grown and developed within Satria Muda and the Indonesian basketball ecosystem. This change in status is proof that a long-term development process can provide a real contribution to both the club and the Indonesian National Team,” said Christian.
Sport Director of Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung, Youbel Sondakh, emphasized that the local player status makes Dame Diagne’s role even more strategic in Satria Muda’s roster moving forward.
“We are certainly very pleased with Dame Diagne’s change in status, which now allows him to play as a local player, especially for the benefit of the National Team. For Satria Muda, this is also a stroke of luck. Over the past few seasons, including the IBL competition, we have truly felt the need for a player with Dame’s character. We hope his presence can fill our existing gaps and provide a positive impact for the team this season,” said Youbel.
Dame Diagne was also one of Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung’s representatives on the Indonesian National Team, contributing to the success of winning a bronze medal for Indonesia at the 2025 SEA Games. This achievement serves as tangible proof of Dame’s contribution at the international level while solidifying his role as a player who is ready to compete at the highest level.
Youbel also highlighted Dame’s playing style, which is expected to bring new energy to the team. “Dame is an energetic player, both in practice and in games, and his presence brings a new dynamic to the team. His contribution is deeply felt on both the defensive and offensive ends. His training experience in Spain last year and his performance with the National Team at the SEA Games have significantly boosted his confidence. With all that experience, we see Dame as an essential piece that completes the Satria Muda roster,” he added.
Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung remains committed to supporting player development in line with efforts to strengthen the club’s achievements and Indonesian basketball sustainably.
