It seems that the storms do not want to leave Satria Muda Pertamina this season. After a series of less than satisfactory results in several previous matches, the SMP coaching staff again had to think hard because one of their foreign players, Warren Washington, had to end his work period early after being hit by a shoulder injury.
“Yes, it is certainly sad, not only for SM but also for him, especially since I know very well that he still wants to make a lot of contributions to this team. Honestly, I don't really know the details about his injury, but what is certain is that it is a shoulder injury due to overstretching in the match against the Hawks last week. And because it requires a little surgery, it is certain that he will not return to the team until the end of this season and we all hope that he will not recover quickly later,” said SMP head coach Youbel Sondakh after the team's training session yesterday afternoon.
Youbel also explained that the current conditions will clearly be a tough test for his team, especially since this week SMP will host two teams that have already given them defeats this season. However, this man from Manado remains confident that his squad will survive to the maximum.
“This will definitely be an interesting challenge for us and the rest of the squad in SMP. This is also the time for them to show that they can step up and be ready for the next 2 to 3 games. What is certain is that for now Satria Muda must adapt to every condition,” he concluded.
The same thing was also confirmed by SMP team manager Theodore, he said that this situation was not new for his team. Because last season the team based in Kelapa Gading often appeared without a complete squad, especially in their foreign legion.
“And for the replacement of foreign players, honestly we can't replace them quickly because in our league there is a rule that foreign player documents must be processed for at least 15 days. What is meant is that in the range of 1-15 days he can't play, on the 16th day he can only play when the documents are complete. If for example we look for a replacement now, it means we can only play on the 30th, well, we have missed 4 matches too, so besides us complying with our regulations and being right, we will still play with only two foreign players in the next few games,” he explained.
"For the replacement candidate, we clearly already have a name but yes, that will come in June. The point is, we will continue to try our best for SMP while monitoring the team dynamics in the next few games. But we are confident that we can get through this as a single unit," he concluded.
