The long break in the match was used by the Satria Muda Pertamina (SMP) team to spread knowledge in the field of basketball through their SM Care program. After visiting the Tugasku Islamic school some time ago, this time it was Tzu Chi School's turn to be visited. Still with the concept of combining coaches, players and legends, this time the team based in Kelapa Gading brought Coach Will, Avan Seputra and Rony Gunawan.
Although still focused on skill training, this time the SMP players also talked a lot about the world of basketball both outside and on the field. One of them was the legend Rony Gunawan who emphasized the importance of a strong mentality in the basketball industry.
"Because the mental factor will be very decisive both during the match and when we are no longer playing basketball. At Satria Muda we are required to have that champion mentality. The mentality to train hard and not give up easily. And of course that is what will shape us into strong individuals," said the owner of seven Indonesian basketball league titles during a question and answer session with children at Tzu Chi School Basketball.
The clinic itself was fun and full of enthusiasm. The Tzu Chi School students were clearly eager to make the most of their study time with Coach Will, Avan and Rony Gunawan.
One of the participants, Gwen, said that the arrival of the junior high school team made her realize that in basketball there are many detailed movements that must be practiced over and over again to be perfect.
“Yes, like dribbling, it turns out we have to keep practicing to add variety to the movements. In addition to skills, I also got a lot of input on how to lay-up and share the ball. And of course this is a valuable experience to be trained directly by professionals at Satria Muda. I hope this is not the last and the junior high school can often train us at Tzu Chi School,” she concluded with a smile.
