Satria Muda Pertamina (SMP) took an important step to face the rest of the regular season of this year's IBL. After joining for almost 4 months, SMP finally agreed to part ways with one of their foreign players, Wendell Lewis.

According to Satria Muda's head coach, Youbel Sondakh, this replacement was purely due to the team's current needs to continue the fight in the league. So there is no other reason behind the replacement of the player from the United States.

"He is a player with a very good personality but we need a player who is better than him. Because if we look at yesterday, it was clear that we were a bit overwhelmed in terms of defense and that is what we want to fix again," he said.

"In addition, I also feel that maybe we and he have not found the right formula to bring out his best abilities. Because with his size and skills, he should be able to play more than his current level and be consistent in every match. So maybe this farewell could be the best for the future for SM and him, besides that I also say thank you very much for his contribution over the past few months and I hope he is successful in the future," added Youbel.

The same thing was also conveyed by Theodore as the manager of the Satria Muda Pertamina team, according to him the change is a form of SMP's commitment to be more serious this season.

"Because we know our position in the league right now is actually not that bad but also not so ready especially to face the playoffs. Well, because right now there are many players who are more available, so we try to explore and take the option to dismantle the current team composition. Because it is clear that this year we want to be champions again. So thank you Wendell Lewis for your cooperation this season and good luck for the next steps," he concluded.

This change itself is the first change that SMP has made in their foreign legion lineup since the league started last January, so thank you Wendell Lewis!
