Satria Muda Pertamina returned to training after a break after the IBL final last season. This training was prepared to face the 2024 IBL All Indonesian Cup which will be held starting on September 22.
Satria Muda head coach Youbel Sondakh said that the team is currently in quite good condition.
"Yes, our main focus right now is to restore their physical condition first because we did have a few weeks off. But I am lucky to have players like them because I see they are able to maintain their respective bodies. So if their physical condition is okay, then we will start training with the usual rhythm and continue to improve until the first match later," he said.
In addition, Youbel also hopes that the players who have just joined after the PON in Aceh can immediately adapt to the patterns that will be applied by SM in this competition.
"Of course I want the players who have just come from there to be able to train right away. Because our strategy will certainly be different from what we used during that season because this competition is a format for local and naturalized players. But I am sure they will be ready, and most importantly we all want to perform optimally in this competition," he continued.
The same thing was also conveyed by the vice captain of Satria Muda this season, Widyanta Putra Teja. According to the player from East Java, the players' motivation is high to end the title drought for almost the last two and a half years.
"It's quite a long time for a team as big as Satria Muda, and that's why we are currently very focused on the field to practice and practice. We even increased our respective training portions because we are aware that this event is our chance to show off. To prove that we are still worthy of playing at the IBL level which is currently getting higher," he concluded.
The team based in Kelapa Gading itself will begin its adventure in the IBL All Indonesian Cup by facing Kesatria Bengawan Solo on September 22, then Pacific Caesar and Satya Wacana. ( FR )
