Every tournament always has a story for its players, sometimes interesting but often emotional. Those two words seem to be fitting to describe Karl Gloria in the All Indonesian Cup tournament last October. Karl, who we know did not have enough playing minutes in this season's IBL, seemed to be reborn in this competition that played all local players.

In total, this Manadonese man scored 38 points from 7 matches. He even came out as the player with the most points with 20 points when playing against Pacific Caesar in the group stage.

"My biggest motivation is because I want to prove that I can play well. Besides, I also realize that the tournament is the best place for me to show all my best abilities, but the most important thing is of course a victory for Satria Muda. Because it would be useless if I could score 20 to 30 points but SM still lost," said Karl.

In addition, there is one thing that seems to be a trade-mark and advantage of Karl in the future, namely his high aggressiveness in the arena. Regarding that, Karl said that he was used to playing at a high tempo since he was a child in the Philippines.

"In the Philippines, since we were little, we are all aware that basketball is a very physical sport, that's why I play like that in Satria Muda now. And I try to be consistent both when competing and in training because as we know our league has leveled up and I believe this will help us all as players to be even better in the future," he continued.

When asked if his incident with Vincent Kosasih during the final game 1 against Pelita Jaya was the result of emotions and aggression that were still uncontrolled as a young player, Karl answered that there was some truth to it.

"First, I admit that I was wrong at that time haha because for a match as important as the final I should have been able to play more maturely but besides that I also feel that in that game I got a lot of valuable lessons and experience for the future. In fact, I just wanted to play as well as possible at that time, my energy was high to achieve victory that day. And for Vincent, we met after the match, I apologized and he said that it was okay because this is basketball. Everything that happens on the field should end there, when outside we are all good friends. It's just business never personal," said the player with the number 11 jersey.

"And about Coach Youbel's statement, he only said that we needed you on the field but you did the wrong thing. I hope next time you don't do that again. He also said that I have to remember what I did earlier forever so that it doesn't happen again when I'm needed haha," he added with a laugh.

Regarding his hopes for next season, Karl said he would only remain himself besides hard training.

"I will always enjoy and go through every process at Satria Muda Pertamina. In addition, I am also ready to accept every challenge in this team, because in basketball a champion is born from those who always complete challenges well. And basketball itself for me is not just a sport but also a place where I have found a lot of pleasure in life since childhood," he concluded.
