Starting this December, Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung is introducing a restructuring within its coaching and management ranks as a strategic step to welcome the 2026 competition season. This transformation is being implemented to strengthen the organizational foundation and ensure the club is increasingly competitive and professional in various operational aspects in this new era. Through this restructuring, three crucial positions have been renewed: Head Coach, Sports Director, and Team Manager.
In the latest structure, Satria Muda has appointed Serbian coach, Djordje Jovicic, as the new Head Coach, replacing Coach Youbel Sondakh, who has coached Satria Muda since 2017. Regarding this opportunity, Djordje expressed his pride in becoming a part of the Bandung-based club.
"Satria Muda is the team with the most trophies in Indonesia, and every coach would be honored to be part of such a historic and successful club. I am grateful for the trust and I want to contribute to building the next era of excellence in Bandung,” said Djordje.
He also paid high respect to Youbel Sondakh, who has contributed significantly to the club's development. “Youbel Sondakh is an excellent coach and also in person. I respect everything he has achieved for Satria Muda and I look forward to working closely with him. For me the most important thing is that every player gives their highest intensity in every moment on the floor,” he added.
Before joining Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung, Coach Djordje had a strong international career track record. He led Partizan U18 in 2021–2022 and previously served as the Head Coach of the U20 Beikong Fly Dragons in Beijing. Djordje also held the position of Assistant Head Coach for the Serbian U20 National Team. In the Indonesian league, Coach Djordje had a spell with Pelita Jaya Jakarta. Now, he brings a new perspective and European coaching standards to strengthen Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung.
With his extensive experience, Djordje believes one of the most important things he must do first is to build the players’ character as the team's foundation. “One of the most important foundations of any team is character. That is why we must build a roster filled with players who have strong mentality, discipline, and work ethic. Talent wins games but character builds a culture, and culture is what wins championships.”
With the coaching change, Satria Muda has positioned Youbel Sondakh as the Sports Director. Regarding this change, Youbel stated that this moment is the right time for him to accept a new challenge. “I feel this is the right time to take on a new challenge. I want to try new things and develop myself, not just as a coach but also behind the scenes. The role of Sports Director gives me the scope to see the bigger picture, build the team structure, and prepare a long-term foundation for Satria Muda.”
He explained his initial focus on rebuilding the team's support framework. “In the initial stage, we are reforming the team framework, starting from the players, coach, coaching staff, and officials. After that, we prepare long-term support systems such as scouting young players, cooperation with universities and amateur clubs, and expanding relationships. This is a process of building a foundation, not just assembling a roster,” said Youbel.
Regarding the appointment of Coach Djordje, Youbel affirmed his confidence, “Coach Djordje is the right person to lead Satria Muda. His experience in Europe and his track record as a Serbian youth national team player show that he has strong discipline and character. We have previously experienced the Serbian coach formula, and the results were good. With this new structure, I am confident that everything will proceed according to our goals,” he added.
The restructuring also introduces Cecilia Dwi Maya as the Team Manager of Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung, replacing Theodore Wira Adi. As part of this change, Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung expresses its appreciation to Theo for the work and responsibility he has carried out as Team Manager. Going forward, Theo will handle the Business Development & Commercial area, and it is hoped that his new role can help strengthen Satria Muda's business structure in a more focused and sustainable way.
Regarding her new duties, Cecil explained her motivation for joining as part of the organizational renewal. “My biggest motivation for accepting this position is the desire to contribute directly and provide a different atmosphere for the club. I want to help Satria Muda achieve a higher standard of professionalism and create a supportive work environment.”
As a former female basketball athlete, she brings a deep perspective on team dynamics. “As a former player, I learned a lot about discipline, communication, ego management, and the importance of team culture. This experience helps me build trust and a common goal within a professional men's team like Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung.”
Cecilia affirmed that her initial focus is to strengthen the internal team-flow. “My priority is to form a solid work structure and strengthen communication between team elements. Cooperation between these roles will be the key to success. For the players and fans, trust the process. We are building a strong foundation for Satria Muda and the City of Bandung.”
The Managing Director of Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung, Christian Ronaldo Sitepu, explained the philosophy behind this major transformation. He sees this step as important for maximizing the club's future potential. “This restructuring is being done because we see the need to build a stronger long-term foundation. Youbel is a legendary figure who understands the team inside and out. His new role is not only about preparing for the season but also about preserving the legacy and creating new achievements.”
He also appreciated Youbel’s contribution as Head Coach. “Youbel's contribution as Head Coach is unquestionable. His relationship with coaches, players, and stakeholders is very strong. We are confident that he can bring a mature, long-term strategy for Satria Muda's development.”
Regarding the appointment of Djordje Jovicic as the new Head Coach, he stated that the hope is to support the club's transition so that it can become a club of extraordinary quality. “Our hope for Coach Djordje is clearly to bring the championship title back to Bandung and build new strength through young players. The change of Team Manager to Cecilia also strengthens the club's foundation. We are focusing on digitalization, commercialization, and improving the fan experience to make Satria Muda more modern and relevant.”
With this new coaching and management structure, Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung officially enters a new era. The club affirms its commitment to building a stronger, more adaptive, and future-oriented team. The official introduction of this structure will be carried out through a Press Conference on December 1, 2025, at Grha Persib, Bandung, marking the starting point of Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung's journey toward the 2026 season.
