Satria Muda Pertamina successfully advanced to the final round of the 2024 IBL All Indonesian Cup after crushing Dewa United in the semifinals yesterday. In the match held at Hall A Basketball Senayan Jakarta, Avan et al performed brilliantly in both defense and attack. Neat defense and sharp shots in the fourth quarter finally became the key to SM Pertamina emerging as the winner with a landslide score of 75-59.
Even though they won quite comfortably, in fact, SM Pertamina's head coach Youbel Sondakh was still not too satisfied with his team's performance, especially in the early quarters. Youbel said that they started the match slowly and not with a good rhythm.
"We are aware of that and fortunately we were able to fix it in the third and fourth quarters. After our defense was neat, it was proven that we could start playing with SM's character and beat them. But there are still small details that we have to fix again for the final match later," said Youbel.
The same thing also came from one of their best players this season, Abraham Damar Grahita. According to the man who is familiarly called Bram, they have to fix the little things to face the peak match of this tournament immediately if they want to come out as the best.
"In addition to immediately, we also have to fix it quickly and find a solution because as we know in every final match there are always differences and we can no longer start the match slowly and get hot like before. We have to enter the field with high confidence because SM, as I know, every time we go to the arena we always want to eat people," said Abraham.
Abraham himself is aware that Satria Muda Pertamina in this tournament is quite different from usual because of the many young players and he is happy that they are also developing well at this time.
"I never doubt the quality of the young players on this team, I know their capacity. And that's what Avan and I often tell them, this tournament is the time for you to show off. Let them know that you deserve to get playing minutes next season. And it can be seen that until we entered the final, their statistics were also good and that is good capital for the final later," he concluded.
